Climate Week North East - A Chance for Some Foodie Fun!
Climate Week North East 2026 is almost here!
Coordinated by NESCAN Hub, Climate Week North East is a celebration of all things community climate action. Organised in partnership with event organisers and a Steering Group, the programme of events a true smorgasbord of different activities, themes, and locations across the North East!
As a food partnership, Granite City Good Food loves delving into the events on the programme which are themed around food as, when it comes to foodie events, there is truly something for everyone! We've pulled together a few highlights to help you decide which you'd like to attend:

CFINE and Granite City Good Food Zero Waste Cooking Workshop
Wendesday 23 September, 10.00-14.30, CFINE Poynernook Road (Registration required)
Starting strong with our very own, this year's Zero Waste Cooking Workshop promises to be a favourite! The workshop will be an exploration into tackling food waste, maximising ingredients, and a chance to discover more about food sustainability.
The workshop takes place in CFINE's Cook at the Nook, an amazing community kitchen space, with a maximum of 16 spaces.

Aberdeen Fair and Sustainable Trade Group - Aberdeen Tea Trail
Wednesday 22 September, 14.00-15.30, meeting at 'the Green Mannie' outside the Tilted Wig (Registration required)
Join the Aberdeen Fair and Sustainable Trade Group for a chance to explore Aberdeen's close history with the tea trade.
From the history of tea in Aberdeen right through to how the Aberdeen Fair and Sustainable Trade Group promotes fair and ethical trade in Aberdeen, the trail will be an exciting chance to explore the city with like minded individuals. What's more, the trail will finish at Books and Beans - who pride themselves on supporting Fairtrade - with the chance for a fine piece and a fly cup!

Mounthooly Food Forest - Open Day
Wednesday 23 September, 13.00-15.00, The Mounthooly Roundabout (accessed via public subway).
Over the past couple of years, community partners have been leading on some massively exciting work on the centre of one of Aberdeen's busiest public roundabouts, at Mounthooly!
The upcoming open day will be a chance to explore the space, see the fruit trees which have been planted, and hear more from some of the team behind the project.
Tours will be available from the team involved, a chance to explore the space in a unique way!
CFINE and the James Hutton Institute - Growdome Showcase
Wednesday 30 September, 17.00-19.00, The Hutton Institute, Craigiebuckler
From its origins at CFINE and launch during 222's 'Wonderland Festival' to its new home at the James Hutton Institute, the Growdome has had quite a life!
Join CFINE and the Hutton Institute to explore the history of the Growdome, now hosted within the Hutton Institute itself.
With an opportunity to explore the Hutton Institute’s immersive suite, surround yourself with a showcase of the story of how the Growdome has supported community growing in Aberdeen City, and the story of its future, as an exploration of the Hutton Institute’s diverse and exciting research projects.

CFINE Community Meals - Community Climate Action
Friday 25 September, 11.30-14.00, CFINE, Poynernook Road
As part of the CFINE Community Meals Project, CFINE's next event is themed around community climate action.
This meal is for anyone interested in learning more about climate action, including as part of Climate Week North East. If you want to know more about what is happening around the north east of Scotland as part of Climate Week North East, this meal is for you!
An opportunity to learn more about climate action, this event will consist of a sit-down lunch – all catered for you and hosted by our lovely CFINE team – as well as activities and information related to Climate Week North East and its ethos.

Climate-Positive Farming - Taster Day at Glensaugh Farm
Wednesday 23 September, 10.00-16.00, Glensaugh Farm, Near Laurencekirk
Join the Hutton Institute team behind the Climate-Positive Farming project at Glensaugh Farm, who will be running farm walks and indoor displays throughout the day, showcasing some of the research and activity taking place at the farm, to address issues around the Climate and Nature emergency.
For the walk element, sensible footwear and clothing may be required, with some steep inclines on the trail.
